Award-winning comedian Rosie Wilby shares funny, bizarre and poignant tales of heartbreak and recovery with special guests Njambi McGrath and Syd Moore – in a live recording of her acclaimed podcast.Rosie has been obsessively researching the psychology of love for a decade and has even been dubbed the ‘the queen of breakups’ by BBC Radio 4.
The Breakup Monologues is now also available as a book combining humour, heartache and science to investigate how on earth to actually stay in a relationship in the modern age of ghosting, breadcrumbing and conscious uncoupling. Event Details
Launching on June 22nd, join us at this special exhibition showcasing artefacts of scientific and technological innovation from the last 100 years to the present day. Running to July 15th
Chelmsford has been a world-renowned centre of scientific and technological innovation for well over 100 years, and still is today. Among other things, Chelmsford is home to the world’s first wireless (later radio) factory, the world’s first river water treatment plant and the world’s first colour digital camera – and that’s just from within the last century. Today, companies in Chelmsford continue to build the technology of the future, with high-tech developments in fields as diverse as space, medicine, communications and defence. The impact of industry in Chelmsford on all of our lives is incredible. This exhibition will tell a part of that story, revealing how household names such as Marconi are echoed in the modern age.
Chelmsford Innovation: Marconi and Beyond is an exhibition hosted by ARU and in partnership with Chelmsford Civic Society, Chelmsford Science and Engineering Society and the Marconi Veterans’ Association.

Essex Pride is an annual celebration of LGBT+ life in Essex and beyond. Establishing itself since it began in 2003 as a cornerstone event showcasing Essex’s successful approach to diversity and inclusion, and even becoming a factor in Chelmsford being granted City Status in 2012 by her Majesty The Queen.
This is an event for the whole community, and its more than just a huge party. Pride inspires everyone to embrace equality, and demonstrates that people from all walks of life can join together and celebrate diversity.
Essex Pride is a not for profit registered charity, run on behalf of the LGBT+ community of Essex by a volunteer board of Trustees. All proceeds from ticketing and fundraising go towards the operational and running costs of Essex Pride.

Star Wars Revisited
An informal speaker-led discussion, Café Scientifique is a place where, for the price of a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, anyone can come to explore the latest ideas in science and technology. Meetings take place in cafés, bars, restaurants and even theatres, but always outside a traditional academic context.
The return of Star Wars: How to protect air space from missiles.
As the spectre of nuclear annihilation returns, western governments will surely revisit the option of a defensive system, rather than massive retaliation. Are laser guns and death rays the answer, asks Steven Cutts.
A regular speaker for CSES, Steven is a doctor and writer based in Norwich. He graduated from Imperial College with a physics degree and then studied medicine at St Thomas’ Hospital, specialising in surgery. He is the author of the science fiction novel Viking Village and also Shakespeare’s Diaries, has written numerous science articles for the national press and has given numerous popular science talks around the country.

The carnival is back!! and we are staying GREEN! FLOATS! Think go-karts, bikes, push chairs, trolleys, as long as they are non-motorised. COSTUMES! Think colour, big masks, think razzmatazz. NOISE! Think whistles, marching bands, samba, drumming. FLAGS! Think big bright & beautiful.
So, while we are non-motorised — in addition to the green theme — we are paying particular attention and encouraging submissions that celebrate, showcase and demonstrate our City’s ingenuity and reputation for engineering excellence. For inspiration visit www.ignitechelmsford.org.uk/carnival-2020.
Walk, dance, skip, twirl, hop, or whatever takes your fancy, get involved in this celebration of all things Chelmsford. Everyone is welcome! So get your creative thinking caps on – there are prizes to be won! Need some ideas? Then why not watch the videos from our youtube channel to learn how to be part of our ‘Chelmsford Junk Band‘ by making instruments from re-cycled materials!
Starting at 1pm, the parade walk from Admirals Park following the public path through to Central Park, then onto Bell Meadow Park, cross over StoneBridge Walk, turn left up the High St, right onto Springfield Road and finish in Backnang Sq where there will be a host of entertainment to keep you amused for the afternoon as Chelmsford Festival hosts its finale.
